Along the year the city celebrates lots of events. The Fiestas Patronales dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, the city saint patron as the catholic church beliefs, is held at the beginning of December. It has lost most of its religious content to become a popular festival with live music, food, drinks and verbenas .The Breadfruit Festival (Festival de la Pana) is celebrated during the first weekend of September. Its main theme is about the preparation of dishes whose main ingredient is breadfruit. Typical Puerto Rican music, crafts and foods as well as other cultural and sports activities can also be enjoyed in all these festivals and events.Other festivals are, Encendido de Navidad, a three day gospel music fest.It is celebrated in the Thanksgiving weekend or near it. Also there is a environmental fest, Feria Ambiental, celebrated in April. The Santa Cecilia Festival is other great celebration in town, this is the patron saint of the musicians. The city is the hometown of recognized musicians locally and around the world and the festival serves to honor the most outstanding ones.
