The city depends of tourism ad has one of the most important centers of the island.Palmas del Mar, the island's largest resort, makes Humacao its home. This mega resort is composed of over 3,000 acres (12 km²) of land and occupies the entire south eastern portion of the municipal territory. The resort contains over 20 tennis courts, two world-class golf courses, miles of unspoiled beaches, several restaurants and a world class riding center. Other important economical activity of Humacao is the biotechnological and technology (Microsoft)industries.Our city has a growing economy and it can be appreciated with several shopping centers and a lot of restaurants of creole cuisine and others specialties. Many housing projects had also developed in the last years. This had brought new people to the area. The infrastructure of the city had improve in the last decade with the construction of new highways and government facilities of different kinds. We are accessible by the mayor highways of the island (Carr.#30 , # 3 and #53). This is just part of the economical activity of the area.
